Second try: Augusta, ME

My second try was a 1962 beige and a 1963 white bug in Augusta, ME, a three hour drive from Boston. As we arrived in Augusta, the beige 1962 was gone and only the white 1963 was still available.

Boy, that car was crap! The luggage shelf was welded probably twenty times, the heater channels were rotted and a bend pipe was installed, where the front seats were suppose to be, to channel the hot air from the engine to the front. The floor pans were rotted because a former owner tried to fix them by welding new pans on top of the old ones. What a great idea !
If you look closer, you can see, that the crimp on the front hood is gone. It is replaced by cutting it out and then welding metal sheets from the inside. To make it smooth, someone used lots of bondo!
But the best of all: that guy wanted 4500$ for that piece of junk!
Poor beetle !!!!!!
